5 Ways To Get Moving Doing The Things You Have To Do Anyway.
Are you looking for some quick and easy ways to add physical activity and fitness to your life? You may find that you don't have time to fit a full workout in, but here are a few everyday activities that you can spice up to get your heart pumping.
1. Park in the furthest parking spot possible from your destination.
2. Whenever it is possible, take the stairs.
3. Cardio Cleaning. It’s a thing - Promise. One of my clients turned me on to this with her “high knees vacuuming” and it is brilliant! Anytime you're doing a mundane cleaning class task, think about how you could incorporate some type of physical/fitness activity. Some of my favorites are calf raises as I am doing dishes, lunges as I am mopping, and high knees as I am running the vacuum… The possibilities are endless, and for someone who is short on time priceless!
4. Shower Statics: I know I am not the only one who’s greatest ideas come to me in the shower….well, here is another option for shower time. It can be slippery, so I don’t suggest any jumping around, but any type of static hold is great! Swatting while shampooing, arms help out in front during conditioning, etc. It may sound silly, but that burn will improve the strength and save you time!
5. Counter Time: If you are like me, you spend a lot of time waiting around in the kitchen, waiting for the toaster, waiting for the keurig to heat up, waiting for water to boil...you know what I mean. Take advantage of those minutes!!! Try a few tricep dips or leaning push-ups on your counter. Your counter is also a perfect barre height….give some leg lifts a try!!!
