2021 Intentions -- Physical Health

Physical health is an the agenda today. If you know me, you know that working out is my therapy. Physical activity is just as much about my mental health as my physical health. I love to learn new things about nutrition, and how food can fuel my body. I try to stay on a decent sleep schedule and visit the doctor when needed for both illness and check-ups.


After a shoulder injury in March, and a shoulder repair surgery in November, I was unable to workout for months… those months coincided with the Covid lock-down. This was a recipe for increased anxiety and irritability for sure (during an already stressful and uncertain time). The circumstances also lead me to make food choices that did not allow me to feel my best. As a family we stayed up late and our sleep pattern was erratic.


I was just recently released to resume working out, and I already feel the difference. In 2021, I want to make sure to move my body at least 5 to 6 times each week. When the weather cooperates, I want to get outside in the sunshine and fresh air for walks or runs. I will also begin a practice of daily meditation (this one is new so if you are interested in learning with me let me know!). I want to continue to fuel my body with the best foods I can. I want to continue to learn what my body needs, but also make room for the things that it wants (I love me a garbage plate here and there) an occasion. I will continue to see my various doctors for check ups, and continue to monitor my vitamin/mineral/hormone levels to ensure that I am living the most physically healthy life possible.


Here is the biggest part -- I will do these things free of "Mom Guilt". I will know that I deserve time to take care of my physical health. I will know that doing these things makes be a better mom. I will know that the better mom is the one my kids deserve. Let's go!
