How Can a Certified Personal Trainer Help You?
It is important to know that a certified personal trainer and a health coach are slightly different from each other but still provide you with tools to improve your life. I am both a health coach and a certified personal trainer and can help you in so many ways. I will ask you questions that are specific and targeted to help determine your goals and how best to reach them. I will take a look at your current health and lifestyle with objectivity. I may find things that you do not want to see or prefer to ignore. These may be the very things that have kept you stuck. It is often challenging to take a hard look at your life and define problems. Once you define the problems, you must determine the solutions. When you want to find a personal trainer, you want someone that is going to help you face those difficult challenges.
Together we will create the action plan to help you achieve the results you want, no matter if they are exercise or nutrition related. We will also create steps to reach those goals. I will help you break a large goal down into smaller, more manageable goals. Often, we decide we want to do something big, like lose 100 pounds. That seems overwhelming, and it can be. Instead of focusing on that at first, focus on making better food choices and losing something manageable like 10 pounds by a certain date. Your long term goal remains to lose 100 pounds, but you focus on the smaller goals one at a time to reach a larger goal. These smaller goals are easier for you to focus on and think about. When you create one large goal, it is easier to miss the mark. These are moments when you feel like a failure, or you just want to give up. Creating smaller goals gives you more successes and fewer misses making it easier to keep moving towards your goal.
I will keep track of your progress and teach you how to track your progress for yourself. I will hold you accountable for the things you do and be honest with you when you made a bad choice. I will encourage you and support you through it all. If something is not working, we will shift direction to something that works better. There are many ways to reach goals. The key is to create manageable goals and take steps that work for YOU. While there is value in working through discomfort, if something becomes too hard, you may want to stop doing it. Together we will find that balance.
